To quote the famous Mrs. Ball, "I'm sleepy time zoo"
Here I am at the library trying to be a good student but my eyes wont seem to cooperate. They droop, feel heavy, and any second they'll be closed for good. My only solution is to blog. It's slightly more interesting than my writing and rhetoric textbook. Not that I don't enjoy reading about how to correctly identify your audience when writing a opinion editorial. Two days into college and I already have 116 pages (yeah I counted) of reading, a writing assignment and two quizzes...yuck.
As terrible as I'm making this sound, I actually am loving college so far. My classes are interesting. My professors competent and intriguing. The students participate and engage in the discussions. Yeah compared to high school this is amazing!!
Well wish me luck, I'm off to tackle the section "getting on the same page with rhetoric"...I'm gonna need it!

BYU, FOL, NSO
Here at BYU there are abbreviations everywhere!! JSB, MOA(said mo-uh), RM, NSO, SWKT(said swicket),FOL, and of course BYU!! Seriously its like a different language.
Lets go back to Monday. I went to FOL up in Aspen Grove. It was such a good experience and I met so many amazing people. I was in Group 30 and we named ourselves the Blue Ukes because our assigned color was blue and one of my group leaders was constantly playing his ukulele. I loved it! It was like having background music wherever we went! The three days we were there were packed full of fun activities like a ropes course, a dance, field games, devotionals, swimming, classes, and group activities. It was the perfect way to start off my BYU experience. I wish I took more pictures but here's what I got...
When I got back on Wednesday my mom and dad came down and helped me move in. After I was all settled in we went grocery shopping and out for a late lunch. I said bye to the parents and headed off to a dance with my roomie Brianna. We met tons of new people and had a lot of fun.
The last few days I had NSO, which is new student orientation. We split into Y groups and with our Y leaders toured campus, played games, went to devotionals, and had lots of information crammed into us. And last night to finish off the week we had a dance/party. Its been so crazy the last few days I didn't take any pictures. But here are some pictures via google of my favorite buildings on campus so far.

Classes start tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed that I don't get lost or do something embarrassing! Good luck to all my friends that will be starting their classes her or up at USU!!

Off I Go!!!
I cannot believe this day has finally come. I'm all packed up and ready to leave bright and early tomorrow. Even though I'm moving down to BYU, my adventure actually will start in Aspen Grove with a camp called Foundations of Leadership. I'll be there for 3 days before I actually stay in my new place. Time seemed to be going so slow as I've been waiting for this day to come but now looking back it really flew on by.
So farewell Bountiful, you've been so good to me! Goodbye 20th ward and BHS! Thanks for memories, lessons learned, and friends I'll never forget.

2 days....
I'm pretty sure I've had this conversation at least 50 times
Person: When are you leaving for college
Me: The 22nd
Person: BYU right?
Me: Yup
Person: Are you excited?
Me: Yeah I can hardly wait
Person: You'll be great!
Me: Thanks
And guess what? I'm not sick of it! I really am so excited and can hardly wait! It still feels very surreal and the whole college thing probably wont hit me until I watch my mom drive away on Monday.
Also I said bye to Jessica this morning. It was awful. I was headed to work and stopped by just for a few seconds and in order not to cry I avoided eye contact and didn't say anything too personal. I kinda feel bad but then again we'll probably just skype later and ball our eyes out or something...

this is for you daddy
Alright so I've been a slacker and I apologize. Thanks dad for reminding me daily that I haven't posted. So this ones for you!!
Where to start?? I guess I'll just fill you in on all the trips I've taken this summer and go from there.
First off was my senior trip to Park City with my favorite people. Thanks to the parents for letting us use the timeshare :) It was so relaxing and wonderful. We spent the week eating delicious food, hangin by the pool, shopping, and just having fun. It was so nice to spend time all together before we all head off in our separate directions for college.
Straight from Park City, Jessica and I went to Provo for the Stadium of Fire concert with David Archuleta and Brad Paisley. We spend the night at Amy and Garrett's before finally heading home.
Then McCall and I headed down to St. George for a few days. We stayed at her house there just he two of us which made me feel all grown up! We went to the Harry Potter 7.2 midnight showing...ahhh it was fabulous. Definitely worth the 3 hours just sitting the the theater, plus we made awesome shirts :) On our last night the rest of her family joined us. We went to dinner at the Anasazi where you get to cook your meat on these hot bricks. Then we went at explored the narrows with her little brother Cayson and had lots of fun.
Next I got to head down to the Fish Lake with mom. It was fun just having some one on one time with her at the cabin. The weather was perfect as was the company :) One day we drove down to Capital Reef and hiked. It was fun but incredibly hot, but it was okay because we cooled off with some ice cream, which I happen to like kinda a lot.
Then my family went camping up in American Fork Canyon. I had to work but was able to come spend the night and one day with them. We hiked up to Silver Lake. It was only a little over 2 miles but it went straight up! It was pretty steep which meant that the way down was a little difficult for one who has the "dilley grace". So I ended up falling down the mountain and have some nice marks to show for it.
My cousins went to Goblin Valley for a few days which is one of my favorite places to hike and luckily they let me tag along. We went through the slot canyons down there and did a bunch of rock scrambling. It had rained pretty hard right before we got there which resulted in a lot of water in the canyons. It turned out to be a good thing though because the pooled water just added to the challenge and when we got too hot we just jumped right in to cool off :)
Just yesterday I got back from a backpacking trip to notch lake with my dad. We went with Jessica's family and another family from our ward. My dad just fished his heart out which was fine with me because it let me catch up on my sleep.
Now I'm up in Park City again, this time with my family for a few days. Its the perfect way to end the summer right before I head off to school (8 days!!!!)
oh and I drove down to Provo with Jessica today for a our good friend David's farewell (good luck elder!! japan is lucky to have you!)
Every spare moment is spent working, playing with friends (old and new), buying things for college...it is soo expensive, and procrastinating packing for my move to BYU.

"I'm a runner" - Kevin Malone, The Office
Jessica and I have decided that we are going to get in really good shape this summer and have worked out everyday this week. I've never been a long distance runner and I definitely never thought I'd enjoy running so much. Turns out I love it!! I feel like I have so much energy and after a good run I feel so good. And with my eating habits (I eat a lot) it's probably a really good thing for me. At the end of the summer we're going to find a 10K to run and I'm actually super excited :)

Sooo Good
I've never really watched So You Think You Can Dance until this season and it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. These people are seriously so talented. This is probably my favorite dance so far; it actually gave me goosebumps!
Also this was our FHE treat last night. And this is why I work out! They were easy to make and so yummy

5 things I'd rather do than clean out the window wells
1) Eat Broccoli
2) Kill a Spider
3) Listen to Friday
4) Shave my head
5) Listen to Friday while shaving my head, eating broccoli, and killing an army of spiders
Can you guess what I spent the morning doing??

Happy Flag Day
I think Flag Day is a holiday that gets overlooked. I think it's a holiday that needs a little more recognition. This year in honor of Flag Day there was a Relief Society Patriotic Dinner held tonight. And since I'm all old and grown up now I get to attend! Along with yummy food and funny mom stories, we also had the privilege of hearing from a military man. He told us the the story of the Star Spangled Banner and then we sung it after. It was pretty moving to hear that story from someone who has spent his life defending the Flag and our country. I even got goosebumps when we sung...
This is the flag that flew above Fort McHenry that Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner about.

I think I'm gonna like it....
This morning I registered for my classes at BYU this fall. Picking my classes made college seem so much closer and honestly I can't wait to go!! I know I'm going to miss my home and family so much but right now all I can think about are all the exciting adventures that await me at BYU!
Guess what else? On Tuesdays I only have one class and I'm done at 9 am :) and on Thursdays I'm done by 10. What about MWF?? I dont start class until 11 and I'm done at 3. Look at all that free time...but then my dad keeps reminding me that's actually homework/job time :( what a killjoy
On another note, I have an amazing friend. Well actually all my friends are amazing but this particular one got a mini movie made about her :) check it out here.

101
This is post number 101. Last post was 100 (obviously) but I didn't know that so I failed to recognize it. Anyway I think that 101 is just as note worthy. In honor of post 101 I thought about doing something cute like "101 things about Melissa" or "101 places to go, books to read, and movies to see". But to be honest I don't really feel like writing a huge long list and I'm sure you don't want to read it either.
Instead I thought I'd give you the watered down version. So here's a list of 10 thing I feel you should know.
1)I'm blogging from my brand new laptop I received from my parents as a graduation gift. I love it lots :)
2)Read the book Life Expectancy. I promise you wont regret it. It has a unique plot, it's hilarious, a bit scary, and very well written.
3)If I could be anyone else in the world it would probably be Zooey Deschanel just because she is just so dang cute. I love her style, music, and quirkyness(i'm pretty sure I just made that word up).
4) Letter writing/receiving is the best.
5)I'm slightly obsessed with John Mayer
6)Bears Beat Battlestar Galactica
7)I LOVE when guys dress up...they look so good
8)I really like avocados and Reece's peanut butter cups...but not together
9)My celebrity crush is either Ryan Reynolds, Chad Michael Murray, or Joseph Gordon-Levitt
10)I could watch The Young Victoria, She's the Man, and Dear John over and over again.
To make this a true 101 list I need to add a 1 at the end. Here is 1 thing that pretty much sums up my life right now
As soon as I transfer all my pictures and such to my new computer I'll post about the last week of school and graduation :)

Bravestock
At the end of each school year, BHS holds Bravestock. There's games, food, music, and various activities. This year I played on a volleyball team. I had sooo much fun playing again. It has definitely been way too long. Most of the girls on my team also played on the school team so we were pretty good :) Unfortunately we lost in the finals to a team full of basketball players and our varsity setter. I actually didn't mind losing because it was just so fun!! The end score was 27-25 so its not like they killed us, or maybe I would be a little upset.
Thanks Jessica for taking some action photos :)
It still hasn't totally hit me that I've only got 2 more days of high school left!!! Graduation will be here in a blink of an eye...still having mixed emotions about that...

Some thoughts
Things I hate:
Cold showers
Being Late
Getting seconds then realizing you're not even hungry but you eat it anyway because it's already on your plate
Things I love:
Ice Cream...seriously how can anything be that good??
Getting the mail and getting mail (there's a difference)
Social Experiments at Walmart ;)
New clothes, especially when they're on sale, thank you memorial weekend!
Oh and by the way.......I'm graduating this week....say whaaat??? I thought the new blog look was appropriate :)
Also, I found my bro takin a nap today and couldn't resist snapping some pics...haha
Hope your having a spectacular sunday!!

Spring Festivities
Spring is a great time of the year. Everything seems new and fresh. It also goes by in a blink of an eye especially in Utah. Seriously it goes from blizzards and icicles to scorching heat and sunshine in a few short weeks and Spring just flies on by. Today was one of those rare, beautiful spring days. Sunny with a slight breeze and about 60 degrees, but of course that can't last and tomorrow its supposed to snow...surprise!
With spring come some super fun things like spring break and prom. Spring break was a little over 3 weeks ago and keeping with tradition I went to Las Vegas. It was so relaxing and just plain fun. I went down with my little brother and my cousins Travis and Denali. We spent the week with our grandparents and it was nice not having to share them with all the other cousins :) While we were down in LV it was my cousin who lives there, Claire's, 20th birthday. What did we decide to do for her? Well after a nice dinner we made this epic fort. I mean what 20 year old doesn't want a fort?? It was super comfy and quite large. We fit 5 people in it to watch movies and eat goodies. It was definitely a unique present!
Next up we have prom. The dance that everyone looks forward to all year, especially the seniors. My last high school dance ever. Girls started dress shopping and tanning weeks before. I'm definitely not that type of girl but to be honest, I really wanted to go. I mean this was my one and only senior prom. As prom approached I still hadn't been asked. And to make it even better my little sister was going with my ex-boyfriend (weird that I have one of those :P). But wishing and feeling sorry for yourself does no good. Would I really care about this in a year or even a month? Not really, so I just figured that I wasn't going to go and was okay with it. My self esteem did not ride enough on getting asked to have my cousin take me despite my aunt's offer. I would definitely rather just sit home with ice cream :) Then a week before prom I got asked!! Twice in one night! Really? That would happen to me...
Anyway, I decided to with Mitch. I've known him since we were four and he was my first real crush back in junior high. So I bought the perfect dress and even better shoes. Prom was fantastic and to top it all off Jessica was in my group! The day activity, dinner, the dance, and after activity were all perfect! It was an eventful night and I had so much fun. Jessica even got named Prom Queen!
Pictures to come!!! (as soon as I can get blogger working on my account!)
Oh and Jessica and I won tickets to Brad Paisley and David Archuleta this summer at Stadium of Fire!!
And also Braveman was tonight and was absolutely hilarious!! Seriously these boys had me laughing so hard my stomach hard. Best event ever!! Who wouldn't want to go watch the best guys in the school battle it for the title of Mr. Braveman?? It was awesome :) thanks Lisa for putting it all together!!

So I do have an explanation for my absence of recent blog posts, but I warn you its not very good. A while back my parent's e-mail account got hacked and sent our a bunch of spam. So in retaliation they added blocks to our computer, lots and lots of blocks. And some of those blocks won't let me log on to blogger. So that's my excuse. I guess I could have just used the laptop or another computer but that would take the extra effort I just don't have at the moment.
I guess you might be wondering how I'm posting right now with my block dilemma. Well, I'm actually an office aid at school right now with absolutely nothing to do. I thought it might be a good time to take advantage of a computer without a blogger block.
I have many exciting I need to share:
Spring Break
Prom
The Healthy Change
D.C Friends Last Hurrah
Easter
So as I leave (the bells about to ring) I will make two promises. 1)I promise to try and find a loop-hole or a way to log on; I did finally unlock YouTube! 2)I will blog from the laptop which has escaped the blocking, but it might not be so exciting since all my pictures are in the mac. sorry.
I hope everyone had an amazing Easter Sunday because I sure did!!

Catch-up
Third term, most stressful term this year, is finally over! I can resume my normal life again!! Here's what happened while I was MIA.
1) Amy and Garrett tied the knot. It has been 1 month and 3 days since they got married. Time flies!! It was beautiful day filled with lots of family, smiles and laughter. Amy looked beautiful and was absolutely glowing. Garrett didn't look that bad either :) I couldn't be happier for them although it's still weird to me sometimes to think that Amy is MARRIED!! AHH!! Here's some pictures taken by my uncle (we haven't got the official ones yet)
above: ninja turtle smiles :)
2) Our family went on a CRUISE!! Well when I say family, I mean my mom, dad, Katie, Emily, and I. Amy and Garrett can't take off any more time from work and Thomas chose to stay behind for a school play he had a lead it (crazy right??) Here's all 5 of us on the formal night.
We were gone 8 days on the cruise, plus 2 spent in Las Vegas with the grandparents, for a 10 day vacation. It was heaven! It was warm and sunny everyday. The sun starting setting as we were leaving the port of Los Angeles was picture perfect.
We got to stop in Cabo San Lucas for two days and Puerto Vallarta for one. In Cabo we went snorkeling, enjoyed the beach, went shopping, rode in a glass bottom boat, and ate at an authentic taco stand (only my dad and I were brave enough to actually eat the tacos).
Then in Puerto Vallarta we went hiking up to a waterfall, rode the crazy busses, and visited El Eden. El Eden is where the Predator was filmed. The site was then turned into a restaurant built right into the side of a water hole. There was natural rock water slides, a rope swing, and a zip line. It was super fun!
The days we spent on the cruise ship were filled with sun bathing, swimming, going to the amazing/ hilarious shows, trivia challenges, eating a lot, playing games, and just relaxing.
It was an amazing vacation and cruising is definitely the way to travel if you like to sit back and relaxing and let everyone take care of you. It was wonderful :) Here is one last picture of our ship, the Star. She was huge!
3) Wade, my cousin, left on his mission! He is the cousin closest to my age and one of my best friends. It was hard to say goodbye but I am so excited for him. He has so much ahead of him and he's going to be a great missionary. Hopefully the two years will go by quickly.
Its been a fun and very full past month :) Just the way I like it!
