OREO. Definition: A confection consisting of a white cream filling sandwiched between two chocolate cookies.

In seminary today we had a class talent show. There was singing, poetry, piano and trombone playing, and many other talents. As a little joke my cousin Travis and I say that we are the only ones excused from the talent show (from Dan in Real Life) because we don't have any show-able talents. Although I'm not sure I am talented at this, I do enjoy cooking. So for my class I made homemade Oreos. They actually turned out pretty good. I made about 60 of them and came home with just 2. Luckily I was able to snag a picture before my brother Thomas gobbled them up.

Just a little more "Oreo" fun for you Oreo lovers!!

Choose which method best describes your favorite method of eating Oreos:

1. The whole thing all at once.
2. One bite at a time
3. Slow and methodical nibbles examining the results of each bite
afterwards.
4. In little feverous nibbles.
5. Dunked in some liquid (milk, coffee...).
6. Twisted apart, the inside, then the cookie.
7. Twisted apart, the inside, and toss the cookie.
8. Just the cookie, not the inside.
9. I just like to lick them, not eat them.
10. I don't have a favorite way because I don't like Oreo.

Your Personality:

1. The whole thing
This means you consume life with abandon, you are fun to be with,
exciting, carefree with some hint of recklessness. You are totally
irresponsible. No one should trust you with their children.

2. One bite at a time.
You are lucky to be one of the 5.4 billion other people who eat their
Oreos this very same way. Just like them, you lack imagination, but
that's okay, not to worry, you're normal.

3. Slow and Methodical.
You follow the rules. You're very tidy and orderly. You're very
meticulous in every detail with every thing you do to the point of
being anal retentive and irritating to others. Stay out of the fast
lane if you're only going to go the speed limit.

4. Feverous Nibbles.
Your boss likes you because you get your work done quickly. You
always have a million things to do and never enough time to do them.
Mental breakdowns and suicides run in your family. Valium and Ritalin
would do you good.

5. Dunked.
Every one likes you because you are always up beat. You like to sugar
coat unpleasant experiences and rationalize bad situations into good
ones. You are in total denial about the shambles you call a life. You
have a propensity towards narcotic addiction.

6. Twisted apart, the inside, and then the cookie.
You have a highly curious nature. You take pleasure in breaking
things apart to find out how they work, though not always able to put
them back together, so you destroy all the evidence of your
activities. You deny your involvement when things go wrong. You are a
compulsive liar and exhibit deviant, if not criminal, behavior.

7. Twisted apart, the inside, and then toss the cookie.
You are good at business and take risk that pay off. You take what
you want and throw the rest away. You are greedy, selfish, mean, and
lack feelings for others. You should be ashamed of yourself. But
that's ok, you don't care, you got yours.

8. Just the cookie, not the inside.
You enjoy pain.

9. I just like to lick them, not eat them
Stay away from small furry animals and seek professional medical help
- immediately.
10. I don't have a favorite way, I don't like Oreo cookies.
You probably come from a rich family, and like to wear nice things,
and go to up-scale restaurants. You are particular and fussy about
the things you buy, own, and wear. Things have to be just right. You
like to be pampered. You are a prima donna. There's just no pleasing
you.

I thought these were pretty funny! Personally, I'm a dunk my Oreo type of person; one of the few times I like milk is with my Oreos.

Cool School

This week my school was named "cool school of the week" by Fox 13. A bunch of school clubs and committees, along with the officers, met together and were filmed showing how "cool" our school really is. This meant I had to be at school very, very early, 5:45 to be exact. The only way to get teenagers to show up this early is to bribe them. So after a breakfast of delicious Costco muffins, the filming started. Mostly everyone just sat on the bleachers coloring packets as a service project and then cheered really loud at the right time. Because it was filmed live, we would do a 5 min section then wait 15-20 min before doing another 5 min section. It took a long time and we were there from 6-9, missing our first period class :) Each section focused on a different part of the school. Their was a section on the cheerleaders, band, jazz band, swing club, drill team (state champs!!), academics, and a mini spirit bowl. I got to participate in the spirit bowl, which is a competition between the grades. My even was the ice cream sunday building. The twist? I was standing on a ladder dropping the ice cream and toppings into a cup held by my partners mouth who was laying below. Luckily he had goggles and a plastic bag for protection but even so he was covered in sticky goodness:) It was so fun even if it did only last a few minutes.

I'm new at this so I haven't quite figured out how to post a video but if you click on the title of this post it will bring you to a video of my sunday building portion! Enjoy :)

Behind the Name

Today I had a volleyball tournament with my club team. Unfortunately, this tournament happened to land on the day of BHS girls' basketball playoff game, which 3 of the girls on my team play on. So with a team of 8, missing 3 girls is a big problem. We would only have 5 girls to play instead of the necessary 6. Luckily we were able to recruit a girl from a younger team and another girl who plays school volleyball to come and help us out. Even with new team members and different positions we still took 3rd place (out of about 15 teams)!! It was super fun and we played really well.

With all day tournaments, practices, school season, and weekend tournaments we all get ot know each other pretty well. On our team we all have developed nicknames, whether we like them or not. There's Jimantha (Jim for short), El Matador, Captain, Dwight, and so many more. My nickname came from my frequent falls and "stupid" comments (which I don't think were very stupid at all). So despite my 3.99 GPA, I landed the nickname Special "M", deriving from Special "Ed". I thought it was a one time name but it stuck. Not only I'm I called that during volleyball, I'm called Special "M" in school, when we hang out, it's my name in phones, and even it the yearbook (only on the volleyball page thank goodness)! So that is where my blog URL came from. My nickname and my lucky number 17, which is also my jersey number.

There were no pictures from this tournament so I just found some from a school game, thanks Amy for the wonderful photography skills :)

There's A First for Everything

My first blog...where to start? How about with my history of blogs? I LOVE to read the blogs of my friends, family, and complete strangers. My best friend Jessica(who will probably be mentioned all the time in this blog) and I are notorious "blogstalkers". Although I do love to read blogs, I have never considered writing my own because of a general lack of creativeness and time. I finally gave in when I realized I was writing posts in my head that I would publish IF I had a blog. I even created a playlist (which will played here) that I would play IF I had a blog. I guess I just realized how ridiculous this was and decided it was time that I actually created a blog. I hope this blog can be enjoyable to read and maybe even in time acquire some "blogstalkers" of its own:)

I want this blog to be full of the little things I love and are important to me, like love, laughter and chocolate. I'll try to post often and say something worthwhile. Feel free to comment and enjoy!
